Have you ever tried to make a decision and found yourself at a loss or uncertain of what to do?

Does your decision-making process consist of putting a finger in the wind to see which way it’s blowing you?

A better decision process is also part of a successful goal-setting process. The most successful people utilize such a process. In other words, they are goal setters and fast decision makers.

What does decision-making have to do with setting goals?

Believe it or not, the two go hand-in-hand. Knowing how to make the right decisions for yourself requires you to know yourself. In those first steps of the goal-setting process, you’ll learn what your values are, how you think, what’s important to you and what isn’t.

You’re preparing to make good, fast, positive decisions; and I believe that’s the mark of a successful person.

When you have no question about what decision to make, your life will get so much easier. You’ll know what’s best for you and what you need to do next. It can be as simple as what you’re going to have for dinner that night or where to go on vacation, or as big as deciding what career to pursue.

All of the elements you need to make those important life decisions are in that process, and life becomes a lot easier when you have that process in place.

Over time, you’ll also learn to trust yourself and the decision you make. When you know that something is the right decision for you – for the values you hold – you’ll start making decisions faster, with ease, and you’ll stick to the decisions you make.

Going through these steps may not seem important now, but you’re building the foundation for tools and skills that you’ll have for the rest of your life. Don’t underestimate the power of knowing yourself and knowing what’s right for you.

Until next week,
Lorna Rasmussen
